A Little History Behind This Particular Gibson ES-175.
Serial Number: A21963

This Gibson ES-175 was made at the Kalamazoo Plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA in the year 1956.  We cannot account for its ownership until 1961 (5 years after its 'birth').

In 1961, the ES-175 was purchased by a fellow named Olin E. Morris from Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.  He kept it (apparently, most of the time, in its case and under his bed) until 1991 when he decided to sell the ES-175 through the Dietze  Music House in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Following is a word-for-word copy of the handwritten letter Mr. Morris gave to the music store to be shown to prospective buyers:  (Note: You will see, in the letter, that Mr. Morris had mistakenly thought this Gibson E-175 guitar had been manufactured in 1954. He claims Gibson told him so...although, we don't have the alleged "card from Gibson.")
By the way, whoever purchases this guitar on Ebay will receive all the ownership documentation we have, including this letter... it's a nice conversation piece.

A letter written by Mr. Morris in 1991, regarding this Gibson ES-175 guitar...

Gibson ES-175 (Gibson Guitar) Serial # 21,963
Mr. & Mrs. Olin E. Morris
(address omitted)

I purchased the guitar about 1961 from Adv paper. (used).  Gibson Inc. sent card to me stating "Produced in the year 1954."

I never had an amplifier, but chorded some, "Acoustic"!

My son, David, used it a little with musical groups "Blue Grass Crusade", etc.  But most of the time unused and under the bed!

Took it to Dietze in Lincoln for free restringing and adjusting in May 1991. Learned about its vintage condition & increased value, so finally decided to test the market with them.  They had better contacts than I would have.

Olin E. Morris

David learned on this Gibson, & now plays bass.
He was born in 1950.

On August 12, 1991, this Gibson ES-175 was purchased by my brother.  He, himself, has been a collector of guitars for decades. He played it, along with his other guitars, in his own studio.  Because of his gradual loss of hearing... perhaps, due to all the Ampeg and Marshall stacks blasting away behind him in the days of his youth ('60's-'70s)?...anyway, due to his loss of hearing, and not being able to enjoy hearing himself play his guitars anymore, he is selling his collection.  This is why the Gibson ES-175 is up for sale.
